Botafogo FixturesThe State Championship for Rio State is known as the Carioca. It runs from late January to April, has two distinct phases and finals – one the Taça Rio, the other Taça Guanabara (Taça means cup in Portuguese) and verily your taça will overfloweth with football since after two phases there is another play-off between the winners of each phase. This year the teams are divided into two groups of six – in the first phase each team plays the five others; in the second phase they play the six teams from the other group.
