We've done it!!!!!
Broadband should be available on the Schivas exchange as of 6th July 2005.
Thanks to everybody's support for the campaign we have shown BT that what they had previously overlooked as an unviable exchange will now be getting a 21st century digital connection. We are also seeing the upgrade take beginning at the head of the Rural and Remote areas programme whilst others are having to wait until Christmas this year for their upgrade.
Other exchanges have not been so lucky, Collieston have only been offered Exchange Activate which will see their broadband speeds capped at 512Kb whilst the majority of the rest of the UK are connecting at 2Mb or more.
The details here are as near to real time as we can get.
Check back frequently to see how things are progressing.
As ofthere are 148
registrations for broadband internet on the Schivas (01358 76XXXX) exchange.
We missed out on getting a trigger level through the
pre-registration scheme that ended in 2004 but we will see the Schivas exchange
upgraded to Broadband in 2005 as part of the Scotland's Rural and Remote
Broadband initiative; a joint venture between the Scottish Executive and BT
partly underwritten by EU funding.
